The Effect of Parent Education Art Therapy programs on the Communication and Social Behaviors of Disorder Children

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Parent Education Art Therapy programs on the communication and social behaviors of disorder children. This study attempted to show it's effectiveness to improve those variables through Parent Education Art Therapy programs. The subjects of the study were 10 pairs of disorder children and their parents. They received total 10 sessions of Parent Education Art Therapy programs twice a month, two hours in each sessions. Communication skill test was used to examine changes in disorder children's communication in each sessions. Social behaviors rating scale test was used to examine changes in social behaviors, for the comparison pre to post assessment, the statistical analyses were conducted for the parent's two measurements(paired t-test). The conclusions of this study were as follows; First, the communication of disorder children was improved by Parent Education Art Therapy programs. Second, the statistical significance level was p<.05 consequently, the social behaviors(area of nonverbal behaviors(p<.01) and area of verbal behaviors(p<.001)) of disorder children were improved by Parent Education Art Therapy programs significantly. Consequently, Parent Education Art Therapy programs can improve the communication and social behaviors of disorder children.
